'In the heart of the Lakes with country house comforts and a guesthouse welcome..'

The special atmosphere of Glenthome is something intangible but distinct and obvious to all who stay. We pride ourselves on not being part of the Lakes Hotel 'Industry' but a special place of informal and friendly hospitality, inclusive and capable of efficiently serving the needs of all who visit. We constantly seek to improve what we do and retain the best: SUGGESTIONS PLEASE to the managers Phil, Jenny or the Clerk to the Management Committee Joan Kemp (c/o Glenthome)

19 NOT OUT!

That is Carol Palmer's record of service at Glenthome. If you've enjoyed homemade cakes at afternoon tea anytime in the last 19 years then you've tasted Carol's baking, just one of her many talents.

Carol has been principal cook at Glenthorne for the last eighteen years and has seen many changes in that time. Life will get easier for her from the end of November when she reverts to part-time breakfast cook. Luckily for Glenthome we have not lost her completely. Known well by many guests and valued by countless young members of staff she has been an invaluable anchor person whose contribution to Glenthome has been incalculable.

DINING...

and even wining at Glenthome in the social atmosphere of our dining room is part of the enjoyment of staying here.

This has been enhanced with an improved menu and choice of dishes at dinner. If you haven't been recently, ask for a sample menu when next you contact us. Remember with prior notice we try and usually meet the needs of most specialised diets.
