Equal Opportunities Policy

Objectives

The Group is committed to meeting it's social, legal and business obligations to ensure that the talents and resources of all associates are utilised to the full. To this end the Equal Opportunities policy aims to ensure that:

- All associates and applicants are selected for employment, training and promotion on the basis of their ability, qualifications and fitness for the job, and receive treatment in all respects on the basis of merit and ability.

- No job applicant or associate receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of sex, race, marital status, disability, creed, colour, ethnic origin, religious belief or political opinion or is disadvantaged by any conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justified.

Individual Responsibilities

All associates have a responsibility to accept their personal involvement in the practical application of this policy.

In particular, managers, supervisory staff and staff professionally involved in recruitment, associate administration and training have a specific responsibility for upholding the policy.

Any breach of the policy will be regarded as a disciplinary offence.

Action for promoting Equal Opportunities

- Provide all associates with training which may improve their prospects within the Group, and which will enhance understanding of the need for an Equal Opportunities policy.

- Provide associates with opportunity within the Grievance Procedure to receive satisfaction should they believe that they have been the subject of inequitable treatment within the scope of this policy.

- Periodically review selection criteria and procedures to maintain a system which ensures that individuals are selected, promoted and treated solely on the basis of their merits and abilities which are appropriate to the job.

- Monitor staff to identify any signs of inequality in recruitment, grading, pay and career progression, and take positive action to redress them.
