Job Title: General Manager - Store Operations

Job Description:
Part of one of the UK's best known FTSE 100 companies, and the owner of one of Britain's most admired brands, this 130-store national non-food retailer has enjoyed unprecedented levels of success over the last three years. Turnover is well in excess of £100m, with plenty of scope and potential to grow further through the continued development of operational sophistication, and the further strengthening of relationships with customers.
The brief is to use customer focus and operational effectiveness to grow sales, profit and market share for the business. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be supported by a talented team that drives the various functions across the company. The strategies and plans you develop will deepen the company's understanding of customers and their behaviour in order to target specific groupings to increase the frequency of store visits and spend per visit. The constant assessment of store look, feel and relevance will be a key feature to ensure the overall customer experience remains appealing and ahead of the competition.
You will be an inspirational leader with an immediate background in a non-food retailing organisation, preferably with a business-to-business element. You will be both a visionary strategist and an instinctive, streetwise retailer who knows how to build and develop teams and get the most out of people. You will appreciate the importance of store dynamics and exemplary customer service, and know how to use CRM to unlock potential. To succeed in this complex business you must have the commercial maturity to see the bigger picture, and the assertiveness to strongly argue your case when necessary. You will currently be heading up national store operations or be an outstanding Regional Controller with a visible track record of success.
