Exercise: around, round, about.

Exercise on the differences between around, round and about.

Fill in the spaces with the prepositions: around or round or about. In some cases two or three words are possible but only write ONE word.


We walked around    the palace admiring the exterior. (round is also possible)

1) We drove the bottom of the mountain to the other side.

2) There was a ribbon tied the birthday cake.

3) The Indians smoked pipes while sitting the fire.

4) The park was closed so we had to walk .

5) Can you hand the biscuits to the guests?

6) We were looking the museum all morning.

7) There were people standing . I don't know what they were waiting for.

8) Is there a hammer ? I need to put up a picture.

9) Can you tell me if there's a pub here?

10) I've only got five pounds in my wallet.
