Ser and Estar - examples of use It is true that in most cases we use "estar" when referring to the location of a place, object etc.
¿Dónde está la farmacia? Que no la encuentro. Where's the chemist? I just can't find it.
Mira, allí está. En aquel árbol. Creo que es un cernícalo. Look, there it is. In that tree. I think it's a kestrel.
However, if we ask about where an event is to be held, we use "ser".
¿Dónde es el concierto? Where's the concert?
Hay una exposición de cuadros de Murillo la semana que viene. ¿De veras? ¿Dónde es? There's an exhibition of Murillo's paintings next week. Really, where is it?
