Cómo hacer preguntas y formar las respuestas cortas con frases con el verbo "to be".

Lo básico - la estructura:

El verbo "to be" y el sujeto se intercambian de lugar en las preguntas (inversión):

Forma afirmativa:
I You He She It We They	am are is is is are are	English.

Forma interrogativa:
Am Are Is Is Is Are Are	I you he she it we they	English?

I am tired (estoy cansado).
Are you tired? (¿estás cansado?).

She is English (ella es inglesa).
Is she English? (¿ella es inglesa?).

He is from Barcelona (él es de Barcelona).
Is he from Barcelona? (¿él es de Barcelona?).

We are at university (estamos en la universidad).
Are we at university? (¿estamos en la universidad?).

They are cold (tienen frío).
Are they cold? (¿tienen frío?).

John is hungry (John tiene hambre).
Is John hungry? (¿John tiene hambre?).

John and Mary are at home (John y Mary están en casa).
Are John and Mary at home? (¿John y Mary están en casa?).

La respuesta corta con el verbo "to be".

Si contestamos "sí" o "no" a las preguntas en inglés, solemos repetir el verbo "to be" en la contestación. En la forma negativa, puede haber contracción entre el verbo "to be" o con el sujeto o con la palabra "not":

Are you tired? (¿estás cansado?).
Yes, I am (sí).

Los objetos en singular y plural utilizan los pronombres "it" y "they" respectivamente:
