As strong advice 'should' and 'ought to' can be translated by ''debe', ''debería/(debió (past))

'Should' y 'ought to' pueden tener significados muy parecidos y se puede emplear uno o el otro...

The "pretérito" (debí, debió etc.) expresses something that 'should have been done' and the "imperfecto" and conditional forms describe something that 'should be done'...

'La forma compuesta 'should' + 'have' + 'participio pasado' expresa el pasado y 'should' + 'infinitivo del verbo' expresa lo que 'debía' / 'debería' hacer (presente o futuro).

He should have / ought to have finished it before

Debió terminarlo antes

I should have / ought to have paid the bill

Debí pagar la factura

She should / ought to leave straight away

Debía / debería irse en seguida

We should do it now

Debíamos / deberíamos hacerlo ya.

However, there are compound verb possibilities (with 'haber') to express the past, 'should have done', which express the same idea as above with no difference in meaning...

La forma compuesta con 'haber' (debería haber + participio pasado) ofrece otra posibilidad en español para expresar el mismo significado que 'debió / debí etc. + infinitivo. En inglés, sólo es posible la forma compuesta; 'should + have + participio pasado...

He should have / ought to have finished it before

Debería haberlo terminado antes / Lo debería haber terminado antes

I should have / ought to have paid the bill

Debería haber pagado la factura

''debía' (imperfecto) can be used for prolonged actions in the past, when we don't know if the action has been concluded. The imperfecto can translate "used to"...

Si necesitamos un infinitivo, hay que emplear 'have to' y no 'must', 'should' o 'ought to'...

Paco used to have to go every weekend / Paco had to go every weekend.

Debía ir Paco todos los fines de semana

Although 'debía' can have the same meaning as 'debería' in colloquial Spanish...

Hay que recordar que 'debía' a veces no se refiere al pasado sino es parecido al 'debería'...

''Debe' is used to express an idea or more obligation than ''debería' and 'debía'...

Si hay una diferencia entre 'should' y 'ought to' es que 'should' habla de nuestra opinión y 'ought to' nuestro deber, las reglas, obligación moral...

We ought to go and visit that old lady but we haven't got time (obligación moral)

Deberíamos/Debíamos ir a visitar aquella señora mayor pero no tenemos tiempo.

You must/should study more if you want to pass your exams

Debes (deberías/debías) estudiar más si quieres aprobar los exámenes. (eg. an order from a parent or teacher)

The obligation is strengthened more with 'tener que'...

'Must' y 'have to' tienen un significado parecido para hablar de una fuerte obligación...

You must/have to lock the door when you come in at night.

Tiene que cerrar con llave cuando entras por las noches.

La diferencia entre 'must' y 'have to' es que el primero habla de una orden que proviene de la persona que habla y 'have to' se refiere a las órdenes o obligaciones de un tercero ej. la ley.

(Profesor a un niño) You must do your homework before tomorrow

(Teacher to a child) Tienes que hacer los deberes antes de mañana

(Friend to a visitor) In England you have to drive on the left (Si dices 'must' suena más como una orden de la persona que habla cuando lo que quiere decir es que se trata de la ley.)

(Amigo a un visitante) En Inglaterra tienes que conducir a la izquierda.

''Debo' can translate 'must' in the first person singular...

'Must' es muy común en la primera persona para hablar de la obligación...

I must get up early tomorrow

Debo levantarme temprano mañana

Must I iron my shirt?

¿Debo planchar mi camisa?

To talk about supposition (or making guesses) about something or some action, we use 'deber de' although in spoken Spanish this may be just 'deber' and ambiguity may occur...

'La estructura: Debe / Debió etc + de + inf.' se usa para hablar de "suposiciones" (lo que se supone), sin embargo, el español colloquial suele omitir la preposición 'de', que dificulta distinguir entre una suposición y una obligación. Hay que decidir cuál quieres decir para traducir correctamente...

He must be very strong to lift all that weight

Debe (de) ser muy fuerte para levantar todo ese peso (without the "de" in these examples, the sentence could infer an obligation.)

It must be half past eight

Deben (de) ser las ocho y media

You must have worked a lot; you look very tired (sin 'de' es posible : 'you should have worked a lot...'; es decir, obligando la persona a hacerlo.)

Debiste (de) trabajar mucho; te veo muy cansado

You must have eaten too much because now you feel ill (sin ''de' es posible: 'you should have eaten too much...'; es decir, obligando la persona a hacerlo.)

Debes (de) haber comido demasiado porque ahora te encuentras mal.

He must have travelled a lot (sin 'de' colloquial: 'he ought to travel a lot' or 'he used to have to travel a lot)

Debía (de) viajar mucho

In subordinate clauses when we use  'in case' + ''should', we can translate with 'por si (acaso)' ('por si' is usually followed by the indicative but after 'por si acaso' either form is possible ...

Fíjete en la traducción de 'por si (acaso)'...

I looked out of the window in case she was coming / in case she should be coming to see me (or, ...should she be coming...)

Me asomé a la ventana por si (acaso) venía a verme

Let's buy some more beer in case we should need it

Vamos a comprar más cerveza por si acaso la necesitemos/ necesitáramos

A modal to translate "should" is often omitted when a subjunctive form is necessary in the following examples...
