Bilingual children's utterance diary - instructions.
« on: February 15, 2015, 09:34:51 AM »
Sorry, this is long overdue! This thread is where we can all insert utterances made by our children as they acquire their L1b language (English, French or German). These threads will be at the top of the forum so easily located. THERE WILL BE A PAGE IN YOUR NAME - EG. "MIKE" or "CARMEN". I can change the name if you want to. Please request a page if you don't see your name. Feel free to just insert a single utterance or more made by your child that you thought was interesting, funny, frustrating, etc. Anybody can comment on each other's utterances. The page will serve to:

1) Help other parents see what things your child is saying and contrast.
2) Serve as a personal reference all on one page of your own child's bilingual progress in L1b.
3) Have a date (the thread date or the date you enter) of when it was said.

I know many of you have inserted earlier utterances that will have got a little lost among all the other threads on this forum. YOU MAY COPY AND PASTE EARLIER UTTERANCES YOUR CHILD MADE ON THIS FORUM and paste them in YOUR page here (important - include the original date the utterance was made).

REMEMBER when you insert your utterance, just do it as a REPLY on your page and not a new topic so it always goes into your personal page thread.

Let's see if this works!  :-\

What a great idea!! I read this after replying in my personal thread (oops!) but I did say that's what she was saying so far. I'll try and post any new words/phrases when I hear them.

Thanks for the new threads, Mike. I'm sure they'll prove very useful when wanting to see what we can expect in the near (or distant too, why not?) future.

Welcome, Prima Facie

Your thread is not lost, it is here:
http://www.englishspanishlink.com/community-forum/index.php/topic,310.msg1741.html#msg1741

Tomorrow I'll have a read through it and comment. We have several experienced parents here who can also help, of course, and advise.

Hi, Mike,

thanks so much for your words! Will wait for your comments, really interested in reading them although it is true that I am learning a lot by reading other parent's experience.

Have a nice day!

BTW, I already found my threat (too old to new technologies) LOL
